The locations of grasslands around the world are described followed by a brief description of the climate. Wildlife presenter Ferne Corrigan looks at the adaptations the bumblebees have made to survive in the region. She explains how the clever burrowing owls have adapted to live alongside prairie dogs and how the coyote’s adaptations enable them to survive in the grasslands. Adaptations of grasses and milkweed are explained, before looking at the impacts of American’s ploughing big bluestem grass in the 1930s, and finally how people use the land today in this biome. This clip is from the BBC series Ecosystems and Biomes. Ferne Corrigan explores the physical geography and wildlife in ten different biomes around the globe.
